Permission to Play:
A way back to your creative self
Explore mark making with art tools, found objects and natural materials with more than 30+ video lessons and X+ hours of content.
You haven't lost your creativity. You've just put it down for a while...
You used to paint, draw or make things all the time. Then life got full, the materials went into a cupboard, and a blank page started to feel a bit loud.
Permission to Play is the way back in. It's a seven-module course that takes you from your first marks to a small series of your own, with no talent or perfect plan required.
I made this course for the version of me who needed it. After years of being a full-time mum and home educating our two kids, I didn't need more skill, I needed a gentle structure and permission. Everything in Permission to Play is built to give you both.

You don't need a plan or a studio to start creating art. You just need permission to play.
In Permission to Play we'll explore tools, marks, colour, grids and collage, one step at a time, until you're making a small series of your own. Happy accidents are welcome.
Join the courseHi, I'm Rachel
I have always loved making things by hand: painting, crafting, sewing. If it's an arty activity, I'm up for it. Putting paint on paper, making marks and choosing colours is endlessly satisfying to me.
I'm originally from London and went to art college in the 90s. I like to use a bit of everything in my work, mix things up and make up my own rules.
As a recovering perfectionist, I'm finding so much joy in the messy middle: not having a plan, not knowing where my hands are taking me, and learning from the bits that go wrong.
These days I paint in my bedroom, run a textile side to my business, and hope to inspire you to get your art materials out and simply have a play.

Fundamentals & Materials
We'll look at the tools, materials and basic techniques you need to get started, including how to prepare your paper and get comfortable with your supplies.

Made for small spaces
Everything works at the kitchen or living room table. No studio needed.

Lifetime access
Once you're in, the course is yours forever. You can watch the lessons whenever you want, revisit the difficult bits, or decide that today you only have enough time to paint for five minutes. That counts too.

Flexibility
The course works across your devices, so you can watch at home, at your desk, or on the train while everyone around you wonders what on earth you're planning to paint.

Community of artists
You'll also join a private community for students taking Permission to Play. Share your sketches and finished paintings, ask questions, exchange ideas, show your progress and see what everyone else is creating. And yes, I'll be there too.

My dedicated support
You can reach out to me with questions and I'll do my best to help. Making art can sometimes feel like you're staring at a painting and wondering why it suddenly hates you. I know the feeling. You don't have to figure everything out alone.

This is a self-paced course. This means the content is made of pre-recorded videos you can watch whenever you want, at your speed.
Learning with an on-demand course, you can pause and practice while painting. And you can always return to your favorite subjects or to the most challenging techniques until you master them!
Can I buy the course as a gift to someone?
YES, absolutely! For this option, you need to choose the one-time payment. You will be able to set up a gift at checkout, with the possibility to send it on a specific day with a personalized message to the recipient.

For how long will I have access to the course?
The course will be yours FOREVER! You can watch the videos as many times as you want and for all the time you want! You won't have to pay any recurring payment after you purchase the course.
